I've never had a MS professionally edited so when I 'edit', it's a much more amateur affair - cutting rubbish, elaborating when needed, spelling errors, making sure it reads well and that everyone maintains the same name throughout.
Editing can be an absolute nightmare. With a previous book, I had to rewrite from the 6th chapter to around the 38th. But it can also be fun. I don't edit as I go so it's the first time I read what I've written. And then there are the spelling mistakes and autocorrects you hadn't noticed beforehand (wellies to willies? Hilarious).
How do you find editing? Heaven or Hell?
Hi there! Thanks for stopping by my blog. I personally hate editing, especially if I have to edit a lot of what I've written. However, editing is the only sure way to perfect your writing.
ReplyDeleteIt can be disheartening when you know you've a huge slog ahead of you but if it needs doing, it needs doing. Doesn't mean we have to like t though :-P
DeleteIt depends...if everything seems to be flowing, it's fun. But if it's all falling apart, it's torture!
ReplyDeleteHave fun with A to Z!

Yep, I've had some falling-aparters. Not nice at all.
