A Look Ahead To 2017
I hope you've all had a lovely Christmas and New Year. We had a brilliant (quiet) Christmas at home, which is how I like it - though ballsing up the trifle wasn't all that great (but at least it was edible, just missing a layer).
Now we're into 2017, I've been thinking about the months ahead: what's already planned, what I'd like to achieve, goals I'd like to aim for.
With my writing, I'm going to be pretty busy this year. My new book, The Little Teashop of Broken Hearts, will be published by HQ Digital on 8th February (though you can pre-order it now *insert cheeky wink*) and I'm busy writing a brand new book. I also mentioned the Beginner's Guide series quite a while ago, and I'm hoping to publish Book 2 in the series this year (Book 1 is A Beginner's Guide To Salad and available now). So, like I said, busy, busy, busy!
With reading, I've been putting too much pressure on myself, trying to keep up with the amount of books I read before I was published. I'm much busier now, with looming deadlines, edits, etc, and I simply don't have the same amount of free time that I used to. I set myself a Goodreads goal of 70 books for 2016 (which was lower than previous years) but I 'failed' and only read 47.
Yep, only 47. 47 is quite a lot of books, but I was aiming for a much higher goal that I just can't reach at the moment. And that's ok. I can enjoy books without aiming for a certain number per year. And that's what I'm going to. I'm not setting myself a Goodreads goal this year - or any goal at all. I'm going to read what I want, when I want and at the pace I feel comfortable with.
Do you have any plans for 2017? Let us know in the comments below 😊
